Polymer blends are almost molding in the molten state, it is very important in determining parameters of process and improving the quality of molding plastic parts to study the rheological properties of polymer melt blend. However, the addition of metal fillers in the resin improve the performance of plastics which is lack of research in this area. This paper has studied ABS and aluminum powder materials blends, the contents of this area are as follow:First, the torque rheology of ABS and Aluminum powder blends is studied by using torque rheometer. The material which in the torque rheometer room was combined affected by the room temperature and rotor shear force,which is the same state with in screw extrusion,it provides an evidence that ABS resin and aluminum powder which were in the extruder mix uniformity. To study the effect of different kinds of coupling agents,it indicates that aluminate coupling agent is effective and need less balance time than silane and titanate coupling agents. the performance of aluminum content also was studied.Second, rheological characteristic of blends is studide by using capillary rheometer, as the material products are made by injection molding, and the actual shear rate range of plastic injection molding is in the capillary rheometer measurement range. Therefore, using capillary rheometer to study the polymer melt flow is to predict the process behavior of polymer injection molding,and search for the optimal conditions and control Product quality. The results show that the aluminum content is more effective at 250℃, and the melt flow properties are better than that at 210℃. At the same time aluminum content increases in low shear rate will help the flow of melt blending at 250℃,but aluminum content in the blend is almost no effective on the rheological in high Shear rate.Third,capillary viscosity parameters were be fitted, the appropriate databases for simulation and prediction of injection molding process of ABS and aluminum blends in Moldflow software have been established. comparing the simulation results with the actual amount of warpage of plastic parts,it shows that Simulation results and actual injection experimental results are very close.Fourth,the mechanical properties of blends is studide in this paper, the content of aluminum powder, titanium coupling agent content, screw speed and processing temperature to effect the mechanical properties of ABS and aluminum powder blends have been studied,the result is that the four parameters which had different impact degrees in mechanical properties.
