Today magnesium alloy is well known as the 21st century green project material because of environment-friendly, lightweight, energy-saving and satisfying the requirement of sustainable development. So the magnesium alloy is used more and more in automotive, electronics, aerospace and other fields. Magnesium alloy cast can be used for raw materials, through the extrusion processing to eliminate defects and improve the mechanical properties. The Magnesium alloy wheels can meet the requirements of lightweight, reduce costs and meet the energy saving purposes.According to the characteristics of the parts of the structure, the extrusion forming process can be developed. The finite element modeling is founded based on the extrusion forming processing. The division of the grid, material properties of the applied, the definition of the friction boundary conditions, the equipment selection and speed and temperature of extrusion process are all analyzed using the modeling. By numerical simulation, the affection of the mold structure and process parameters on the extrusion process is analyzed during anti-extrusion, the bottom forming, and flanging die of AZ80 magnesium alloy. Focusing on the affection of the convex and concave mold shape, rounded corners and flared slope flanging and other important process parameters on metal flow. The distribution of the temperature and the equivalent strain and the change of load conditions are be emphasized. A reasonable forming process with good mold structure and proper process parameters can be developed through simulation.Based on above studies, the mold can be designed and conformed. The results show that the rational design of mold structure, uniform metal flow, good filling effect, high precision of extruded products. The mold can achieve the desired results, and provide the basis of the actual production.
