Triclocarban(TCC) and triclosan(TCS) are widely used as common ingredients in pharmaceuticals and personal care products for the purpose of antimicrobial agents. There is a growing concern for the frequent emergence of the two persistent organic chemicals in the environment. This paper describes a serious of sensitive and environmental friendly methods for analysis of TCC and TCS in water samples and sediment samples, which involves simultaneous determination of TCC and TCS in environmental water samples by liquid liquid extration combined with HPLC-ESI-MS, enrichment with bamboo-activated charcoal(BAC) and detection with HPLC-ESI-MS, and the determination in soil and sediment by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry with accelerated solvent extraction and solid phase extraction. The focus of this study is to analyze the distribution of TCC and TCS in Xiaoqing River, the receiving stream for the wastewater treatment plant by using the above methods, including the concentration levels in runoff flow and vertical orientations of the river in different seasons and the variation in the aqueous solutions and sediment samples. This paper also describes the occurrence levels of TCC and TCS in the progress of the municipal wastewater treatment plant. |
