The roller's design plays an important role in the design of liquid core heavy reduction rolling mill. In the casting process, roller withstands the impact of cyclical thermal load attack, combined effect of thermal load and rolling stress, resulting in mechanical and thermal fatigue, leading to failure of the roller surface. So the research of the temperature field and the stress field has great significance for the life of roller. This paper uses a liquid core heavy reduction rolling mill which designed by a designing institute for reference, uses finite element software ABAQUS, chooses the implicit coupled thermo-mechanical analysis method, modeling the strip and roller as elastic-plastic body, contracts the different roller material, cooling method ,roller structure affect on the temperature field and stress field ,then analysis the effect to the service life of the roller.This paper identified heat transfer equations and boundary conditions ,which is roll temperature field simulation are required, analyzed the relationship of heat input and output of the roller, introduce finite element method and the analysis process illustrate the nonlinear program and its solution method during rolling process. Expatiated the coupled relationship between temperature field and stress field.This study used finite element software ABAQUS for casting process simulation. The temperature field, stress and strain field are simulated from entering to the stable rolling. Analyzed the bearing situation of different materials roller, got the temperature and stress-strain field, and select the materials in accordance with the result. Analyzed the transient temperature field under different cooling methods. Simulated the temperature field, stress and strain field of the build-up welding roller and roller sleeve, with the same material, and compared between them.Analysis the cause of roller fatigue cracks by the simulation result of the temperature field, stress and strain field. Research roller life of crack generation and expansion rule and establish fatigue life prediction model based on metal fatigue cumulative damage theory and fracture mechanics theory.
