During automobile ss-trim stamping forming process, because of spring-back is inevitable and uneasy to prediction, it is a difficult subject puzzled designers at all times. With the rapid development of Automotive industry and stainless steel plate applications, the problem of spring-back is becoming more and more difficult. Now, the research on predicting and controlling spring-back is one of hot topics and difficulties.In order to improve the quality of stamping products and reduce development cycle of new products, we have to carry on the accurate predict and the effective control to the spring-back. Though, finite element method and computer simulation techniques have been widely used in numerical simulation of sheet metal, the prediction to spring-back can't achieve 100% accurate. So the spring-back need to research on both side of numerical simulation and experiments.This paper firstly introduce the methods and development history of the spring-back, conclude the characteristics of automotive ss-trim forming and summarized the blank contour's computational method. Here we get the first blank contour by Dynaform soft-ware, and then through forming simulation perfect it. At last compensate the blank by the inspection tools and the checking section tools. The forming and spring-back was simulated by the finite element method soft-ware Dynaform, and the results reveal that the key factor of spring-back are forming pressure, radius of die and die clearance. And then explores the relationship of the effects: decrease with the increasing of forming pressure; increase with the increasing of die clearance.Finally, the paper introduces some effective method of controlling spring-back during the die commissioning process, especially the mould surface compensation method. The product which produces through this method meets the customer requirement basically, indicates the method is feasible.
