Dynamics of the machine has the great effect on the processing accuracy and processing efficiency, and the dynamic design is an effective means to ensure of dynamic characteristics of machine tools.The paper studied a machine dynamic design techniques which based on the energy balance, and put forward a combination method of dynamic optimization design that based on energy balance principle and finite element model, which could analyze the weak links and dynamic characteristics of the machine tools from the view of the energy point, then the method was applicated in the dynamic analysis in SL-500/HZ Ultra-precision surface grinding machine.The main thesis are as follows:(1)The research status of the machine tools was introduced both at home and abroad, then presented the content of this research topic.(2) In the basis of the energy balance, the machine dynamic characteristic analysis method was studied. The paper proposed the method that used Variance as parameter to evaluate the uniformity of energy distribution, and used the analysis methods of the energy balance as the main and the mode as secondary to analyze the weak links of machine tools. Through the example of cantilever beam, this paper discussed the related issues when the dynamic characteristic analysis method based on the energy balance was applied to machine tool.(3) The combination method of theoretical modeling and experimental modeling was used in the dynamic modeling of SL-500/HZ ultra-precision surface grinding machine, then obtained machine dynamic model of SL-500/HZ ultra-precision surface grinding machine.(4) According to the potential energy, kinetic energy distribution of each mode of the SL-500/HZ ultra-precision surface grinding machine, the paper used energy balance-based and mode analysis supplemented method to identify weak links of the machine. And used energy balance-based machine dynamic characteristics analysis method, modified the program for two proposal by the natural frequencies, potential energy and kinetic energy of both the analysis of variance, from the view of dynamic characteristics of machine tools, evaluated the merits of amending the plan.
