The traditional roughness evaluation is two- dimensional evaluation which has local dependence , so it can not reflect the microcosmic character of the part surface and some character can not be described by two- dimensional evaluation. The character of part surface is described in global by three- dimensional evaluation which is focused on more and more. Internationally, the three- dimensional evaluation does not have unified standard, and now this respect is relative blank at home. There are only few enterprises make the standard of three- dimensional evaluation according to actual demand abroad. The major objective of this paper is that parameter characterization of three-dimensional evaluation morphology is systematic studied and a set of reasonable standardization parameters is built, and the nichetargeting software system of three- dimensional roughness measurement is realized.In this paper, the measuring method of existing roughness was summarized, the laser triangle measurement principle was analyzed and the trigonometric theory was deduced, the direct-injection type of trigonometry was confirmed as the method of three-dimensional roughness measurement, the new type measuring instrument of three-dimensional roughness. The Ernostar optical system combined with Li-CCD was adopted in CCD laser probe, static-pressure air-bearing sliders combined with linear electric motors was used in the x-y working platform, which were in order to make the measuring instrument have well linear characteristic and the high-precision orientation and stationary motion of stationary motion come true. The stepper motor was combined with ball-screw in vertical direction, which can satisfy the accurate rising and falling move of the height direction.The evaluation parameters of three-dimensional roughness was protocoled by means of the study of evaluation parameters of two-dimensional roughness, referring to the homemade standard of three-dimensional roughness evaluation of existing several enterprises abroad, and the physical significance of these parameters was gave. The three-dimensional evaluation datum plane was built by least square method. According to the parameter algorithm of two-dimensional roughness and the homemade algorithm of three-dimensional roughness parameter of existing several enterprises abroad,a set of feasible mathematical algorithm of three-dimensional roughness parameter by summarizing and optimizing.In this paper, the architecture of software system, workflow, the organization and storage of measured data and class design of the system were introduced. The empirical data was analyzed and processed, the trial value was compared with measured value of two-dimensional roughness, and the result showed that the error was small. It testified that the algorithm of three-dimensional roughness parameter was feasible and the software system runs well having strong applicability.
