China is a united country with multi- ethnic groups, and each ethnic group has its own characteristics. The Oroqen nationality mainly distributes in the Da Xing an Ling area, the northeast part of China. According to the sixth population census, the Oroqen nationality is the smallest minor ethnic group in all ethnic groups. The total number of population reaches more than 8000 people, but they have created splendid history and culture. Bai Yinna, a county of the Oroqen nationality, is distinctive in its brich-bark craft which also reflects the artistic creativity of northern minor-ethnic groups in our country. Each brich-bark craft is an interpretation of maker’s feelings and emotions. Nowadays, brich-bark crafts are bringing us both practical function and aesthetic function, and also they are facing challenges of protection and inheritance. But the Oroqen people never stop trying to protect their distinctive culture of brich-bark craft because it has close relations with the language, costume, festival, burial custom, diet and marriage of their nationality. The place where the Oroqen people live has abundant resources of brich-bark. Therefore, they adjust measures to local conditions. According to the understanding of brich-bark’s characteristics, they start to use brich-bark to make craftworks by using local materials. This special skill is also a combination of its own history, art and culture. Brich-bark culture influences almost the whole northern Oroqen people from making brich-bark boats and cradles to brich-bark bowls or bags. The Oroqen people express their yearning to a better life through the appearance of brich-bake crafts. For the ethnic group which only has language, the brich-bark culture can reflect some significant information.The Oroqen nationality is one of the smallest minor ethnic groups in China. They mainly live in the northern part of China, such as Heilongjiang Province, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the Northeast Daxinganling and Xiaoxinganling area, located in east longitude 120 degrees to 130 degrees and latitude 50 degrees to 54 degrees. The Oroqen people mainly inherit in the high latitude regions where are in the area of cold temperate continental monsoon climate and often be influenced by the cold air. Because of the bad weather conditions, the blocking traffic, low level of production and other factors, the local people is difficult to solve the problem of food and clothing. There is not many contacts between various branches, so the development of the Oroqen nationality is poor and backward. The people’s living standards were not improved until the liberation of China. The local government began to remold the Oroqen from rebuilding the local traffic, thus to improve the ideological consciousness of the local people. The Oroqen people began to have contact with outside, and then they were influenced by the ideology and culture of the outside world. The local people began to realize their material wealth and know how to use this to accomplish their self value. Then the writer began to go deeper to understand the Oroqen nationality. This paper mainly discusses the brich-bark craft products of Baiyin County. On the basis of studies by former scholars, the writer will go further in the aspect of geography, anthropology of art, aesthetic anthropology and history to observe and analyze the appearance, material, decorative ways and the production process of the Oroqen brich bark craft products, and then to deeper understand the religious beliefs, national psychology, aesthetic and emotional sustenance of the Oroqen nationality. The study on brich-bark craft will have significant meaning for promoting ethnic art and culture. The writer recorded the entire process of brich-bark products through interviews, written records, videos and so on. With the support of the local government, the writer posed great interests to the making process of brich-bark craft and did a large number of investigations. In the process of inheritance and development, the writer finds new initiatives and selections. The idea of this paper mainly comes from the combination of field investigation and existing literature, which can help us understand more about the production process of making brich-bark craft. For the first hand information, the writer has done detailed collation and summarization to sum up the essence of this art. And then combined with the need of inheritance, the writer will tease out the rule of its development. To do the overall analysis, this paper mainly discusses the research on the brich-bark craft of Baiyin County, also presents some social problems in the development of this kind of intangible cultural heritage. Meanwhile, the writer shows the reality of the development of the Oroqen brich-bark craft, hoping that through the knowledge of cultural function and aesthetic function of this art, some suggestions of the protection and inheritance of the Oroqen Brich-bark can be put forward.
