The comprehensive utilization of a large amount of waste slag generated in the process of smelting is increasingly attracting people’s attention with the declining global reserves of the high grade copper ore resources. This project using waste oil biodiesel instead of 0# diesel as a reducing agent in the converter slag dilution process, reduction of Fe3O4 in converter slag. For waste oil biodiesel and 0# diesel, develops a systematic research of the pyrolysis behavior in inert atmosphere; Based on the analysis of thermodynamics, The effects of waste oil biodiesel and 0# diesel on Fe3O4 reduction were investigated, which provide a theoretical support for the industrial application, the study realized of high efficient and low-cost resource utilization of waste oil biodiesel, improve the efficiency of the reduction of reductant, reduce the production cost of slag dilution.Waste oil biodiesel pyrolysis kinetics results show that pyrolysis kinetics analysis of waste oil biodiesel had piecewise characteristics, kinetic parameters have a great difference in different stages of reaction, the values of activation energy are 193.89-103.76kJ·mol-1 in the initial stage and 81.30-210.74kJ·mol-1 in the intermediate stage. The pyrolysis of light component is easier, and the pyrolysis of heavy component is more difficult with the increase of heating rate.The results of high temperature pyrolysis characteristics of waste oil biodiesel and 0# diesel showed that the pyrolysis gaseous products of waste oil biodiesel and 0#diesel with the temperature (600~1300℃) are hydrogen, carbon monoxide, methane and small amounts of ethylene, ethane, acetylene, carbon dioxide, solid product is coke, Temperature on mainly pyrolysates H2 and coke yields of waste oil biodiesel and 0# diesel significant role in promoting, the higher the temperature, both H2 yield closer. The coke yield of 0# diesel is higher than that of waste oil biodiesel about 10%.The effects of the factors which reducing temperature, reducing time on the waste oil biodiesel and 0# diesel reduction converter slag magnetic iron were investigated by theoretical calculation. The results show that the higher the temperature, the longer reduction time, the lower the converter slag magnetic iron content, the lower the viscosity of slag, Two kinds of fuel oil to the degree of reduction in converter slag magnetic iron closer. The reduction temperature is 1250℃, reducing time of 4min, the content of the magnetic iron in converter slag is less than 1%, the reduction rate of more than 96%. To a certain extent, waste oil biodiesel can take place of 0# diesel as a reducing agent in the copper smelting process.
