Selective laser melting, as one of the most promising and advantages technology in the additive manufacturing, which can be used to produce any complicated shapes quickly and accurately by 3D model. Realizing the free manufacture and solving many complicated parts which are difficult to manufacture. However, there are still great challenges in the forming feature structure of SLM technology, especially the overhanging feature structure, defects such as rough surface, low dimensional precision etc. Which needs further research.On the basis of consulting and studying a large number of literature, this paper makes a deep research on some defects in the SLM forming process of the overhanging feature structure. Taking Ti6A14V as the experimental material, the influence of main process parameters on the forming quality of the overhanging parts was analyzed, and the corresponding process optimization measures were studied. The adding mode of the support structure and the type of the structure were discussed in detail. Finally, the effectiveness of the process optimization results was verified by the typical feature parts. The specific research work are as follows:(1)The common defects and their forming mechanism of metal structure parts were analyzed based on SLM technology, and the influence of the angle of inclination, the scanning strategy and support structure on the forming quality was studied. The relationship between the process parameters and the forming quality was verified based on the view of the molten pool.(2)In order to improve the forming quality of the overhanging surface, a scanning strategy optimization method based on "contour re-melting" process was proposed. The surface roughness of the overhanging surface were reduced by adjusting the cutting profile.(3)The relationship between the process of support structure and the forming quality is studied, and the supporting design principles in the SLM forming process of complex parts are expounded from the function of supporting structure, the existence of defects and design methods.(4)The special metal structure of the flow channel and the thin wall surface as the experimental object basis on the optimization of the overhanging quality process and the supporting structure design, the key problems in the process of SLM integrated forming are analyzed.
