With the development of modern industry, numerical control machine tool demands a higher request for the quality of the linear rolling guide. The indicators of performance such as friction force, vibration and noise decide directly the quality and the precision of processed parts. Therefore, analyzing the key factors, which influence the comprehensive performance of linear motion rolling guide, has important theoretical and practical values.Based on the theory of Hertz contact, the contact characteristics between the ball and the raceway, and the rule of its influence from the structure parameters are analyzed.On applying dynamic knowledge, the movement relation between the ball and the slider in the guide, as well as the movement of balls in the resisting area, are analyzed. Thus, the calculation formula of the speed of the balls and its rolling-rotating ratio are developed.Based on Newtonian mechanics, the collision model between the ball and the returning implement is established to get the formula of the parameters of the collapsing force and of the returning structure for analyzing the factors affecting the collapsing force.In this project, the software ANSYS is used for studying the contact characteristics of linear rolling guide and the virtual software ADAMS for the dynamic simulation of the mechanical performance of linear rolling guide, as well as the establishment of the collapsing simulation model.Based on the finite element simulation model, the five parameters in the structure design of the linear rolling guide:the diameter of the ball, the adapting degree, the ray of the curvature, the upper thickness of the slider and the preliminary serried force are considered to analyze their influences for the contact characteristics; the dimensions of the section of the guide are optimized.The generation of vibration and noise is briefly introduced, and the influence rule of the ray of the curvature on the collapsing force is studied. The factors influencing the friction are analyzed, and then the relation of friction and pre-stressing force is developed.In order to improve its performance, comparing experiments are done under different conditions of speed, pre-stressing force and lubrication concerning different factors, for seeing the change of the performance regarding the friction, the vibration and the noise.
