The higher performance requirements of control systems for modern industrial process have been promoting the development of soft-sensor technique. In modern complicated industrial process, some variables are very hard to be measured or even cannot be measured on-line by existing instruments and sensors. Soft sensor is an effective means of implementing the on-line evaluation of these variables. At present, soft-sensor technique has become one of the most important research areas in process control field. The hydrometallurgy copper extraction process is characterized of nonlinearity, time-variant properties, and large lag. The copper component content is difficult to detect on line. An on-line prediction method of copper component content in the copper extraction process using LS-SVM is first proposed to resolve the problem that the component content is difficult to detect on line. The test result indicates that the modeling method is effective. The main work is as follows:1. The basic theory and modeling methods of soft-sensor technique is researched.2. It depicts the hydrometallurgy copper extraction process and principle. The major factors influencing the extraction equilibrium are analyzed from the perspective of chemical equilibrium. Then the extraction static principles model is developed using equilibrium distribution model and material balance principles for copper countercurrent extraction distribution process.3. Modeling method of component content soft-sensor for copper extraction process is proposed based on the principles model combined with the LS-SVM model, which realizes on-line prediction of the copper component content in extraction process. The test result indicates that the modeling method is effective.4. The structure of the integrated automation system and the application of the extraction process soft-sensor are discussed for hydrometallurgy copper process.5. At last, implementation frame of optimization control system and soft sensing for hydrometallurgy copper extraction process is proposed. And then the soft sensing application design for hydrometallurgy copper optimization control system is discussed.
