In the new century, security has become the theme of the times. Tailing pond is one of important and dangerous fountainheads of mine,and needs to be attached importance. They across the country. They are very dangerous. If the events of collapse and overtopping happen, They would result in heavy casualties and property losses. The accident occurred tailing ponds are many reasons. Tailing ponds affected by many factors. Some of the reasons is potential and sudden. But they also have their usual regularity. If we grasp the laws of them, we will be able to effectively prevent the occurrence and development of the accident.According to China's characteristics of the tailing ponds, I have studied China's tailing pond's dangerous and harmful factors, as well as trigger reasons. The many hazards of tailing pond include dam-break, Overtopping, landslides, leakage and so on. I use preliminary hazard analysis to analysis prior to their risk of a grade. In this paper, their trigger causes are discussed in detail. The paper analyzes security of tailing pond with the method of checklist. The checklist about the hazard factors of tailing pond are set up to identified hazard of Tailings Pond. So manangers and workers can take corresponding measures to control them. If managers and workers have a certain understanding of the hazard factors of tailing pond, they can make appropriate precautionary measures to avoid or reduce accident losses, which will greatly enhance the level of the tailing pond's management and the ability of disaster prevention and resilience.
