With the sustainable development of the society and economy, the demand for the energy is growing rapidly, resulting in an increasing shortage of the traditional fossil fuels. Wind energy, as a clean renewable energy, has been popular in many countries. China's current installed capacity of wind power has jumped to first place, but we are still depends on imports for the power converter which makes it more important to study. This paper is built around the development of the full-scale power converter. Simulations and experiments of the grid-converter for 1.5MW Permanent Magnet Direct-driven wind Turbine demonstrate the correctness of the research results.Firstly, this paper established a mathematical model of the permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG). The topology of the full-scale power converter and the work of the three-phase voltage PWM converter are analyzed.Secondly, it studied the main circuit of the full-scale power converter. The design of the power circuit is introduced as well as the design method of line-side LCL filter and the generator-side du/dt filter, the elimination of common mode voltage, the brake unit, the pre-charging circuit and the control system.Finally, the control strategies of line-side converter and generator-side converter are both discussed and simulated. The experiments of the full-scale power converter for 1.5MW Permanent Magnet Direct-driven wind Turbine demonstrate the correctness of the research results.
