Stranded Wires Helical Spring is also called as multi-wire spring. Because of its predominant characters compared with single-wire helical spring, multi-wire spring has been of great application value in many fields such as shock absorber of the automobile instruments, shooting system of weapon, aircraft engine, etc. Furthermore, it also has important and potential value in civil use. But its wider use is limited to some special fields by its complicated manufacturing process, difficult quality control and its high fabricating cost. Because of being lack of detection and measurement means of the machining process, stranded wire spring produced in our country cannot be satisfied with the control needs of high-grade and high-precision weapon system. In addition, being considered as crucial technology by western nations, the advanced manufacturing technique of is strictly forbidden to be obtained by China.According to the structure and processing characteristics of stranded wires helical spring, The State Key Laboratory of Mechanical Transmission of Chongqing University developed a new type of CNC machine tools for Manufacturing stranded wire spring within a few years. And then ,we also optimized the manufacturing process parameters With the actual production. Finally, the developed products meet the specification requirements. Through actual experiment, we further verify the reliability and stability of the stranded wires helical spring, which has been a solid foundation of the research for theory. The main contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly, the overall structure of machine tools is designed, and an independent intellectual property rights of high-precision CNC machine tools is developed.Secondly, A mathematical model is set up for stranded wires helical spring, and the theory of fluctuations and damping and load distribution between the wire and the rebound situation were analyzed and discussed.Thirdly, The manufacturing process of the stranded wires helical spring is improved. and related technical parameters were optimized.Fourthly, the actual test about the stranded wires helical spring was done, The performance of the stranded wires helical spring was analyzed. A kind of qualified spring was developed.
