Distribution static synchronous compensator has become the research focus in the field of Power system reactive power compensation, because it can compensate Reactive power bidirectional. The paper aims to study the design,modeling and simulation of distribution static synchronous compensator and it can also provide theoretical consideration in practical application.The difference between DSTATCOM and traditional reactive power compensator is compared, and the predominance of DSTATCOM is analyzed. The research of DSTATCOM in home and abroad recently is recounted. Through comparing technological scheme of reactive power compensation in distribution power system, collective compensation scheme under low voltage is selected and the capacity of VAR compensation device is calculated. The voltage type circuit and current type circuit of DSTATCOM are pointed out. The working principle of DSTATCOM based on voltage type circuit is analyzed in detail. The mathematical model of DSTATCOM based on switching transfer functions is built.Reactive current detection means and controlling method of DSTATCOM are emphasis of this paper. The dissertation determines the detection means of improved d-q transformation theory of vector control based on instantaneous reactive power and presents the double loop and double variables control method which combines the control of the d-q transformation with PI control. Meanwhile, using SIMULINK, a simulation tool of MATLAB, this paper constructs a simulation model of detection and control for DSTATCOM. By means of a 10/0.4kv distribution power system with DSTATCOM, this paper analyzes dynamic compensation of the DSTATCOM under three different work conditions. The simulation results prove the control method of DSTATCOM put forward in this paper can realize dynamic reactive power compensation effectively.
