Aeration Mitigation Cavitation and Energy Dissipation & Erosion Control are two significant theses in the field of high speed hydraulics and often used in hydraulic engineering works. In this paper, theories of the two theses are studied and applied in the l~ spillway tunnel of Zipingpu Project to design the aeration channel and the bucket lip. The main work done in this paper can be described as follows:1.Current studies of the two these are introduced and model test is emphasized as the main method to study Aeration Mitigation Cavitation.2.Model test is designed to study the hydraulic characteristics of Aeration Mitigation Cavitation. And the data of the test of the I spillway tunnel of Zipingpu Project is analysised to alter the height of the baffle upstream the aeration channel.3.Model test and numerical calculation are used to study the energy dissipation problem. Some empirical equations are summed up and the method of Energy Approach to Estimating Scour is put forward and used in evaluating the scour depth of 1~ spillway tunnel of Zipingpu Project. The result shows that Energy Approach works fine.4.Influence of loss due to sudden enlargement is discussed and a new idea of reducing energy dissipation by adding the loss in the tunnel is drawn up and illustrated having a good effect through test.5.Energy dissipation is studied here and the form of the bucket lip is optimized through test.6.Multi-method study is proposed by the author as to the two theses?sophisitication.
