Expert system has been applied in many fields of power system up to now, and has perfect effects on them; but it is not often that ES is used in substation abnormal condition processing. Research on expert system applied in substation abnormal condition processing is presented in this thesis. The research includes two parts: one is the research on expert system applied in examining processing of substation abnormal condition; the other is the research on expert system applied in operating processing of substation abnormal condition.In the first part of our research, we analyzed the causality hiding in substation abnormal condition processing, constructed one tree-like knowledge model; based on this model, inference engine and database was designed; finally, the first ES was realized in Visual C++ developing environment. In addition, for the sake of customer's maintaining this system, one customer-oriented knowledge editor was developed.Compared with the first research part, the second has a different emphasis, and is more difficult. After studying the switch operating during substation abnormal condition processing, we put forward two important questions in developing the second ES ; As to the operating process which has a clear object, we finished fundamental designing of knowledge representation and inference process.
