In this paper,the trend of worldwide emission control and the probability of emission measurement on-board ship is discussed in the context of annex VI to MARPOL 73/78. Then the inevitability of emission measurement on-board is brought forward. So it is very necessary to study the method measuring diesel power on-board ship,which is one of nodus of engine test on-board.At first,a predigested method is summarized to calculate NOx emission from marine diesel,based on preference 1. To validate the calculation method,the predigesting theory is analyzed and the data from MAN B&W 5S50MC marine diesel engine's bed test is calculated. The result indicates that the method is as accurate as the IMO's method.Secondly,three methods being generally adopted to measure diesel power on-board ship are itemized and roundly compared,emphasizing on their principles,steps and error analysis. Then some measuring instrument now in use are introduced,including their applicability,measurement precision and cost efficiency,etc.In addition,two main factors influencing on torque measurement precision,shaft vibration and ambient temperature,are discussed and corresponding revolutions avoiding these influences are brought forward. Then two sets instrument,SEC Shaft HorsePower meter and WDC 1605A Current Ship Power Measurement System,are analyzed,emphasizing on basic principle,performance,installation and operation on-board.In the end,by means of Microsoft Access and Visual Basic,the Calculation Program of NOx Emission from Marine Diesel Engines is finished,which facilitates emission test on-board ship.
