Focused on Shenbian company's practical problems during the producing ,which are 500kV shunt reactor test power source and test methods,on design and research,large amount of comparing and counting have been carried out using available working space and equipments and detailed analysing has been made. The best way in economic and technology is achieved.Through created designing work, the first large high voltage capacitor tower in China, which takes on many voltage change and many link system has been built up.It meets not only the requirements of 500kV shunt reactor's temperature rise test, magnetic characteristic and inducing voltage test,but also 500kV, 840MVA three-pluse power transformers temperature rise test in the not future for three Gorges project and also for the test of HVDC converter transformers on ±500kV DC transmit electyicity line.It is first time for Shenbian to do the test of this new product.This paper concerns analysing and counting in theory and application with a very pleased result in practice.In addition,this paper introduces also another extending usage of the capacitor tower-to improve the test ability of 5th workshop test station.In each designing,this paper gives us operational safe measure in consideration of the current situation of the factory in order to rasie the practical of this paper.
