Taking the design theory, parametric design system, environmental impactassessment and environmental impact assessment system of plane-generated doubleenveloping worm gearing as research goals, this paper manages to accomplish thefollowing tasks. Firstly, the intension and framework model of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) isdissertated. And the achievement and some problems in the research field of LCA andplane-generated double enveloping worm gearing are discussed and analyzed. Based on the building of coordinate system of plane-generated double envelopingworm gearing according to the actual manufacture process, the meshing equation,tooth flank equation, under-cut curve equation and contact curve equation are derived. With the development of the parametric design system of plane-generated doubleenveloping worm gearing, the impact of design parameters to the meshingperformance is analyzed, the optimum design and the three dimensional parametricdesign of the transmissionare achieved. On the basis of research and analysis for production process, environmental impactfactors are analyzed and mass related data inventory about acquisition of materials,fuel processing and energy production are determined. By virtue of environmental impact equivalent factors method, the impactclassification and characterization on data inventory are executed. And with applyinganalytic hierarchy process (AHP) method, the weighting of each sort of environmentalimpact type is confirmed. After LCA of the product is accomplished, the stage which holds the worstenvironmental impact of product life cycle is identified and the improving proposal ispresented. Through the agency of the research on environmental impact assessment and theweighting of environmental impact type, the environmental impact assessment systemis developed, which reduces the employment of impact classification on datainventory, characterization, weighting confirming and weighted assessment greatly.
