With the development of electrified railway, electric traction loads have become the main loads in the power system. High harmonic produced by electric traction loads will not only do harm to the power system, but also make harmonic pollution to the power system and affect the power quality badly. Therefor, it has become the pivotal factor which restricts the development of the electrified railway of our country.This dissertation begins with all kinds of harmonic sources existing in power system, analyses the causes and primary harm of the harmonic pollution and particularity of the sources in electrified railway. Combining actual running environment of SHUOHUANG electrified railway stressly, this dissertation monitors the harmonic in different work conditions in SUNINGBEI and DONGYE substations, and gets large numbers of data in monitoring. By researching and analyzing these actual data, it realizes and grips the harmonic distribution and its characters, and evaluates the efficiency of defferent reactive power compensation devices on restricting the harmonic, then puts forward a few of schemes to restrain harmonic pollution in electrified railway.
