The aim of indoor air quality (IAQ) research, which has become a frontierresearch topic of modern architecture science, is to create hygienic, healthy andcomfortable indoor air environment. Indoor air pollution caused by volatile organiccompounds (VOCs) may affect the health and well-being of occupants. Indoordecoration is now in vogue in China and people have been concerned with indoor airpollution based on a review of relatede studies. The author obtained a greatdeal of data from the investigation in several cities. The results showed thatconcentrations of indoor air pollutants are generally higher than those outdoors, andso on.VOCs emited from indoor materials were a major cause of indoor air pollution. The characteristic of VOCs emissions was an important part of research programs onindoor air quality. The technology of test chambers has been successfully used instudies of VOCs emissions. In this paper, environmental chamber tests wereconducted to model the chamber model of VOCs emission from floor paints. The concentrations of indoor air pollutants at 4 apartments in a new officebuilding of Tianjin LG ltd were measured after decoration respectively. Themonitoring verified the variation of indoor air pollutants, that is, their concentrationsdecrease after decoration. However, the concentration may go up with differentorganization of temperature, humidity and flow, which is a just short-termphenomenon. Through the test of plasma air cleaner handling the VOCs with photocatalysis in office, we know that plasma air cleaner with photo catalysis is able toeffectively remove VOCs in office.
