Organic compounds polluted the surface water more and more seriously withdevelopment of agriculture and industry in recent years and increasing of civilwaste water. Accordingly most water body exist eutrophication, algae andzooplankton bloom in water source. Source water is prevalently polluted in recentyears, which has been a serious problem of the field about water pollution controland protection. In china the municipal water supply industry has to confront thedouble pressure from source water pollution and the improvement of water qualitycriteria.In the chlorination process of waterworks, the natural organic matter (NOM)in raw water will form disinfection by-products (DBPS), which have been found tohave deleterious impact on human health. However, the removal of NOM hasn'tbeen paid high attention in the conventional treatment processes, so it still needscontinuous improvement accordingly.Enhanced coagulation is widely used in potable water treatment to removeorganic pollutant in the water, it removed not only turbidity in the water but alsoNOM, so it can improve the quality of potable water, and ensure the health of thepeople. Compared with the chemical oxidation, biology oxidation, active carbonadsorption, and membrane filtration technology, the enhanced coagulation haswidely used and more economical advantage.In the paper, five kinds of aluminous salt and ferric salt coagulants are testedby jar mixed coagulation test to remove organic pollutant at different pH and doseof coagulant. The optimal operating condition was confirmed through the test.It discussed the treatment of low temperature and low turbidity water, and thecauses of of treating it difficultly. The parameters of coagulation-setting and thedisciplines of pollutant removal were confirmed by orthogonal factors tests in thetest, and analysed the factors which affected the coagulation-setting process.Nowadays, conventional process is still playing important role in potablewater industrial, the enhanced process is very important to remove organicpollutant and improve guide line of water quality.
