Non-Fourier effect and non-Fick effect, which are possible to appear in rapid transient heat and mass transfer process are gradually growing into a new research focus due to its great practical and academic significance. For coal-fired utility boiler combustion, the processes of rapid heating and species diffusion belong to the rapid transient heat and mass transfer process. The temperature field of coal particle under rapid heating condition and the devolatilizing process and the species concentration fields during the volatile and the char combustion are simulated with the non-Fourier Method in the paper. The Finite Difference Method is used to solve the temperature and species concentration equations. The results indicate that non-Fourier effect and non-Fick effect are obvious during the coal particle rapid heating and combustion. The non-Fourier effect and the non-Fick effect have important effects to the coal particle pyrolysis, ignition, combustion and the release of NOx etc.
