With the development of modern power electronic technology, nonlinear loads' impact and imbalance reduce the power factor and increase the reactive power loss. Because transmission of reactive power in electric network can lead to network loss and step-down voltage, transmission of a great deal of reactive power necessarily resulted in reduction of using efficiency of power energy and severely effected voltage quality. It became necessary means that reactive power compensation devices were installed in proper position of electric network.Firstly, the developmental actuality and trend of reactive power compensation system are introduced. There are lots of methods to measuring electric power network parameters, some of them are analysed and compared in this thesis, finally the FFT are adopted.The system adopts thyristor as switch that connect capacitors to main circuit, numeralization control and Chinese menu LCD screen interface displaying system's run-time status momentarily. Therefore actualizes the capacitor's speediness, no percussion switching. The software design adopts the C language. We use the method of modularization which can improve the universal trait of the program and simplify the device's maintenance. The summary of the control system control procedure is carried on in this paper. Finally, the summarization and prospects of the research are described. At the end of the paper, test results based on software simulation and switching capacitor in lab is also given. It shows that the control strategy and the relay-protection of capacitor work well and can satisfy the need of real-time measure and control.
