From power system project point of view, the thesis proposed a set of large capacity generator-transformer unit (GTU) protection application strategies for urban district power plant with the fully analyzing recently developed technology.Firstly, the paper introduced urban power system the power plant to be connected and configed typical 600MW GTU protections according urban grid connections and concerning power plant design rules. It compared many kinds of relay and concluded principles in design is'enhancing main protection while weaken backup relay of those easy to led misoperation'.The paper proposed setting criteria for some key protections and analyzed these key relays individually and ruled out typical setting for referenceThe thesis analyzed testing and maintaining rules for GTU protection in the field situations. It described three key regulations about protection testing before start-up, start-up and after start-up durations. It can verify correction of secondary circuit connection for protection and fulfill preset functions. It can greatly improve relay trip after-analyzation and emergency handling ability for the field engineersIn order to reduce abnormal running possibility and facility emergency processing, the paper in the final chapter described notification for the relay operation and testing. It proposed key problems and maintain key points in order to secure generator safety. It also proposed facility maintaining and usage methods for protection.
