In the thesis, a newly-built testing system has been established for the sake of research on heat transfer characteristics of each plate, so that one can obtain undetermined coefficients of equations for each plate's heat transfer characteristics, which will provide fundamental data for numerical calculation of quad-sector air-preheater's heat transfer performance .Meanwhile, a procedure is to spread the rotor's peripheral side in the rotor's rotary velocity direction and set grids between the matrix element and the fluid based on the energy balance equation between the matrix element and the stream. In addition, by combining the air-leakage factor and using an improved Gauss-Sidel arithmetic for iteration, a program is developed to calculate the heat transfer performance of quad-sector air-preheater. The process is realized by applying Visual Basic. By inputting and outputting data from Excel's worksheet and combining air-leakage factor, one can obtain metal temperature distribution of the rotor, gas and air temperature distribution in each sector.Besides, the program can also compute friction drag, local resistance and dilatation drag in the gaps between the plates. As to air-leakage, the program can also compute radial leakage, axial leakage, by-pass leakage, and central tube leakage.
