In recent years, the water quality of drinking water is subjected to various environmental challenges. Large amounts of untreated water was discharged into surface water, which cause serious spot or area Pollution. Under such situation, pre-treatment for drinking water being used more and more on water treatment process. It acts an important role of protection for safe drinking water. Since 70s, the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) began regulating the levels of these DBPs in finished water because of a number of undesirable and potentially cancer-causing organic disinfection byproducts (DBPs) produced by prechlorization. To minimize the production of these compounds, preozonation was recommended rather than prechlorization in drinking water treatment. In this paper, the research was carried out around ozone and permanganate. It includes the following aspects.(1) Research was done in the improvement of organic remonal under preozonation and permanganate, also futher study was done to investigate the influence of preoxidation in following treatment process. It shows that after preoxidation, CODMn has little variety, which indicates ozone and permanganate has little influence in total organic, preoxidation can change the structure of organic, which has influence in the following process.(2) Orthogonal test was introduced in pilot test, comparison was made between preozonation and permanganate on the basis of removal of pollutant of raw water.Firstly, the comparison of ozone and permanganate in traditional treatment process is done. We draw the conclusion that in traditional treatment process, preozonation has better effect than permanganate in the removal of chroma, UV254, algae. At the same time, permanganate has better effect than preozonation in the removal of CODMn, ammonia nitrogen. Test shows that preozonation has an increase of AOC of the effluent.
