After entering new century, energy shortage and environmental problem perplex the whole world. Research on substituting fuel has been paid close attention by countries all over the world more and more, too.Firstly, the paper introduces in detail physical characteristics, exhausting features, merits and demerits and problems solved in use of substitute fuel of internal combustion engine, such as GNC, LPG, hydrogen, alcohol fuel, DME and DMC. Emphatically, it also introduces methanol fuel (oxygen fuel), which has been paid important attention to recently. It has the features of low 16-alkane value and great vaporization potentiality, so it cannot be burnt on the diesel engine directly. The purpose of this test is that to find out a suitable improving pharmaceutical to catch fire, after added into the methanol, realize the direct burning on the G180 diesel engine of methanol. It also can meet and mobilize the flexible strength requirement and economic requirements. The test regards G180 diesel engine as the prototype, measures the performance parameter of the diesel engine at the time of using the diesel oil under the normal technological state firstly, and then adds certain proportion improving pharmaceutical into the methanol. The test gets the least adding amount of improving pharmaceutical to catch fire when methanol burning on the diesel engine independently, records the performance parameter under this state, and compare with the performance parameter while using the pure diesel oil under the normal technological state. Because methanol flame propagate fast and so on, different oil supporting angle has big effect on the function of methanol at diesel engine ,the test apply the method of various factors "The orthogonal return revolves the combination design", designs three adapting parameter experiments of leading oil supporting angle, rotational speed and loading, study the influencing law of their matching situation to the power, oil exhausting rate, discharge and noise of diesel engine. By using the statistical software of SPSS, it builds a model of every function target as exhausting rate, discharge and noise, changes with the three adapting parameters, describes the effects of them on flexible strength, economy and discharging of engine. Finally, it uses the software of Mathcad to seek excellence, gets most suitable value of theory function index and oil supporting leading angle.Result of the study indicates that, the burning of methanol which added the improving pharmaceutical to catch fire has already nearly satisfied the request of power and economy, the discharge index has been largely improved, and better than the oriental diesel engine when it has the gig and middle loading. It is unnecessary to change the diesel engine structure and only does some adjustment in this test; realize the methanol instead of diesel on the small-scale diesel engine. The result of the study has good theoretic and practical value, and also has important reference function of the methanol burning research on the large-scale diesel engine.
