Pneumatic conveying is a way of transporting the powered, granular materials,using of the air (or other gases) as a carrier force. Pneumatic conveying systems,consist of air (or other gas) sources, materials feeding equipment, conveying pipeline,silos and control systems. Despite the pneumatic conveying system has been widelyused in various industrial companies. Manufacturers and users also do many years'research and investigation. Until to now, this method of transporting bulk solids hasnot formed a perfect science, theoretical research is far more behind the practicalapplication. Pneumatic conveying system design still bases on the practice experiences,tests, and curves; there is not a complete theoretical design system. Therefore, thispaper takes pneumatic conveying computer-added design (CAD) system as studytopic.The pneumatic conveying system computer-aided design method is a new method.So it is essential for the development of pneumatic conveying system. It uses thecomputer's computational capabilities; the large amount of calculation will becompleted by the computer. And designer can only consider the key design steps in thedesign process.The CAD system, from the functional perspective, can generally be divided intothree parts: Design space part, Design record part, and Data search part; By the way ofconveying, the CAD system can be divided into four parts: Vacuum conveying part,positive conveying part, plugs pneumatic conveying, and special pneumatic conveying.By the perspective of parameter input/output, the system can be divided into threeparts: parameter input, design calculation, resulting output. Design space part:Searched for a large number of domestic and foreign books, accumulated a lot ofexperiment formulas, and by comparing these formulas, get the most appropriateformulas and parameter for carbon black conveying according to the carbon blackpneumatic conveying test data. No matter which part designer is in, the designer cango back to any former steps, until get the satisfied resulting and optimal parameters ofcarbon black pneumatic conveying system. And in this part designer can directly observed impact of the different parameters on the calculated results, such as pressuredrop, capacity, air consumption, transportation time. Design record part: all the inputparameters and calculated results are saved in this part, at the same time when you aredesigner the project. This can help designer return to inspect the input and outputinformation. Data search part: In this part, if designer are not so familiar with this field,he can query the information and complete the design. This part comprises not onlypneumatic conveying system application in carbon black but also that in manydifferent fields; there are many precious design experience and data. This avoids doingtest, shortens cycle time, improves the rationality and reliability of the design.This paper introduces theoretical foundation, design steps, method of operation.Using engineering design methods, numerical calculation, design optimization to studythe choice of conveying way, pressure drop, parts choice, optimal parameter. Andprovide a complete set of design flow.This CAD system's design is carried out using the Delphi object-oriented designand modular design, and provided an open interface to facilitate the expansion andimprovement of the system.Finally, this paper gives a statement on the study of CAD system and the futureprospects of this system...
