Yangtze River shipping has very important strategic significance for China's economic development. The building of the Yangtze digital fairway system is technical support for the Yangtze River shipping development and of great significance to comprehensively upgrade the level of the Yangtze River safety management, to strengthen ship management and to improve the environment of the Yangtze River shipping. From 2005, with mutual cooperation from many units, Yangtze Fairway Bureau began to design and build the Yangtze digital fairway system and intelligent shipping demonstration project between Nanjing and Liuhekou. As data center and main external information services window, System supporting platform is an important component of Yangtze digital fairway system.This topic figures from the Yangtze digital fairway system supporting platform project. This paper describes the middleware technology, and indicates that the multi-layer B/S architecture and J2EE technology is advanced technologies for the system supporting platform. This paper studies the enterprise-class Web technology and shows the advantages of Struts and Hibernate frameworks. As for particularity against ships, the paper gives SOAP-based Application schema to meet the demand for data transmission with expanded interface, mature assistive technologies, and the smaller development costs. This paper has also done a lot more in-depth research on system role, functional structure, technical indicators, system architecture, and system security. Finally, on the basis of the theoretical research on the J2EE enterprise application systems development, with the design and realization of a specific module, the paper mainly focuses on how to build high-quality, high-usability digital fairway system supporting platform, using multi-layer B/S and J2EE architecture principles and techniques.The purpose of this paper is, by studying the multi-layer B/S architecture, J2EE and SOAP technology, to fully understand construction principle and mechanism of digital fairway system supporting platform, to more accurately grasp the development direction, to build a high-quality, high-usability applications. The design and realization of the system supporting platform makes a new attempt above the traditional J2EE development mode. It provides a useful example for the future development of similar systems, and injects new idea for the development of the system based on J2EE.
