Issues of environment and energy are two main problem areas presently puzzling the world. The development of economy and society are promoted by the application and exploitation of engineering technology. A key starting point for research and the exploitation of engineering technology is to satisfy the twin objectives of developing and improving the world and simultaneously protecting the environment. Thus saving energy and the utilization of clean environmentally-friendly energy is of major importance as an engineering application.Adsorption refrigeration is advantageous for environmental friendliness and energy conservation, so it is a promising alternative to traditional vapor compression refrigeration. It is thus of interest to many scientists. The application of adsorption refrigeration to recovery of engine exhaust heat is also attractive and significant to the social economy. This dissertation presents a preliminary analysis of adsorption refrigeration for diesel exhaust heat recovery by experimental investigations and numerical simulations. The main works are summarized as following.1,Comparing and analysing the performance of some used usually working pairs. Theselection of chlorination calcium-ammonia as the best refrigeration working pairs. And an analysis of the continuous heat regenerative adsorption cooling cycle usingchlorination calcium-ammonia as the working pair.2,This text has analysed S50MC—C diesel engine, manufactured by the MAN—B&W Company and calculated the energy of diesel exhaust gas. This analysis hasdemonstrated that the energy of the exhaust gas, when combined with the specificair conditioning requirements of the ship can be used to satisfy that air-conditioningload. 1,Taking the solid adsorption refrigeration circulation as the foundation, each process of the refrigeration circulation has been thermodynamically analyzed. Thereby establishing a thermal differential equation for each stage of the cyclic process. Through optimizing the system, a mathematical model has been established.2,The purpose of this study has been to investigate the performance and thermodynamic mechanism of an engine exhaust-powered adsorption refrigerating unit tube. (The governing equations and the mathematical modeling are dispersed with the format of implicit difference on the base of marking of the grid. The finite difference form of the equation and the part of program design for adsorption refrigeration system was written in Visual Basic.
