With the development of Chinese urban rail transportation, the signal system is becoming more and more important in traffic safety. For the research of signal system, testing plays an important role. Field test for signal system always be difficult as its cycle time is long and investment is high. "virtual test" based on computer is considered to be a solution. This paper, a research on Automatic Train Operation testing & simulation platform (ATO T&S Platform) is brought in this situation.In this paper, architecture was described firstly and then function. Based on this idea, above all, how to establish an ATO T&S Platform and find a theoretical basis for it was discussed. And then a testing method was described and applied to test-manager. The simulation of test-manager is also provided at last.In the design of the architecture, High Level of Architecture (HLA) was confirmed as a multi-disciplinary modeling method for ATO T&S Platform by comparative analysis. A common method which was the key issue of the platform was also proposed by defining the external interfaces and functions of modules.In the design of the test-manager, a hybrid testing method which combined the advantages of black-box and white-box testing is described. The principle of test-manager is proposed by the analysis of hybrid testing.In the rear of the paper, a test-manager in the ATO T&S Platform is simulated by MATLAB 7.0. The result gained through the production, reduction, display and output of the test-cases have been proved a satisfied performance.
