With the development of economy, people's demanding of life quality is increasing, while the requirement of cooling, heating and power in buildings is gradually prevalent. With the key technology advances, especially the occurrence of micro-gas turbine, distributed energy system which is used in the building energy field has attracted more attention. Due to multidimensional factors, in China the existing distributed energy systems are in poor operation performance. This paper is supported by Hi-Tech Research and Development Program of China (863) "Integration Technology and Demonstration Project of the Megawatt Distributed Cooling, Heating and Power System in northern area (No.2007AA05Z249)". It reported that integrating the storage device in the traditional distributed energy system can improve the system's characteristics of all operating states. The paper put forward the conception and principle of the active storage distributed energy system, and discussed the downsizing for efficiency mechanism of power unit in system. On this basis, the research established the analysis model of the active storage distributed energy system, and introduced the evaluation criteria for the energy system. The process of the typical active energy storage distributed energy system is presented via introducing the existing energy storage theory and the typical energy storage facilities and combining the typical process of the existing distributed energy system. Finally, the application of the system to stadiums, office buildings, hotels, commercial facilities, hospitals and residences is analyzed. The research results show that through active energy storage regulation, the characteristics of all operating states in the power unit can be improved, and the efficiency of the energy utilization of the distributed energy supply system can be enhanced. Therefore, the active energy storage regulation is an important method of improving the efficient integration of the distributed energy supply system and enhancing the energy conservation.
