Currently, the phenomenon of unbalanced three-phase load exists universally in low voltage distribution networks in our country. When the load is unbalanced, the system will have a larger loss and the unbanlanced loads result in reduction of using efficience of power energy and severely effect voltage quality. So it becomes necessary means that reactive power compensation devices are installed in proper position of electric network.A reactive power compensation device based on the complex switch, which can switch capacitors by the zero-across switching complex switch, is developed in this thesis. The device has the following advantages: i.e,rapid response, non-impulse and convenient operation. The thesis also analyzed the hardware and software of compensation device in detail. The control System centers on 56F807, a sort of Digital signal processor made in Motorola Corp. Simulation tests and the scene tests prove that the device can greatly improve the current situation of the load's unbalance in low-voltage distribution networks and reduce the net loss efficiently.
