The Common Pressure Rail (CPR) is a new kind of hydraulic system and higher in efficiency, simpler in structure. Compared with traditional load sensing system, the CPR is a more advantageous hydrostatic driving technique. The CPR is originally used as energy source for the secondary component in secondary regulation system.The hydraulic transformer based on CPR is a new component, combining pump with motor, and adjusting load pressure. The hydraulic transformer can connect linear load with CPR without throttling loss and control of many actuators respectively, so the hydraulic transformer is increasing popular in engineering construction and mining machinery and has become main interests in hydraulic industry at home and abroad.This paper theoretically analyzed the connection methods and working principle of the traditional hydraulic transformer in the hydraulic system. Besides, this paper theoretically analyzed the working principle of the new type hydraulic transformer, and compared the traditional hydraulic transformer with the new type. The mathematic models of the experimental system were built and the simulation research was made.In order to meet the demand of the experiment, partial rebuilding on the original experimental test-bed was done, and the rebuilt experimental test-bed had been debugged. The experimental method was presented. The experiment was performed in three different ways which were changing the CPR pressure, changing the quality of the upright load and energy-saving experiment using hydraulic accumulator. The problems and improvements of the experiment were also provided.This paper realized the connection between non-variable actuators and the CPR. That is to say, by using the regulating function of the hydraulic transformer to control the load pressure, and realized the aim of using hydraulic accumulator which is in CPR to save energy. The results of theoretical analysis and the data of the experiment are benefit to further study on the hydraulic transformer.
