With the rapid development of economy in China, as well as the unceasing expansion of production scale and the further competition in the markets, reducing the power loss of the distribution equipments has become a great concerned problem such as a smelter where large power consumption and high power quality are necessity. Reactive power optimization of the distribution network minimums the loss of power and the investment of the reactive compensation devices by resource optimal allocation.Power flow method is the base of reactive power optimization, whose convergence and computation speed is very important to the efficiency of optimization. In this paper,an improved forward and backward substitution method is given as follows: (1)Improving the numbered method of branches and nodes; (2) Introducing the technology of multithreading to realizing the course of power and voltage caculating synchronously. Calculations and analyses show that this improved algorithm can improve the rate of calculation.Reactive power optimization is a large-scale nonlinear optimization problem with a large number of variables and uncertain parameters, the operating variables include continuous and discrete variables, so the optimization becomes very complex. An improved genetic algorithm is given as follows: (1)Using decimal integer coding form and dispersing processing the continuous variables of generator voltage; (2)Based on Power flow calculation results, the characteristics individual is introducted in population initialization process; (3)Building database to avoid repeated calculation of power flow; (4)introducing the dynamic procross and promuta operator. The emulator of IEEE-14 bus system validates the fesability of the improved algorithm.The reactive power optimization and management system adopts a structure of multi-coordinated reactive power optimization organization, combining the viewed techonoly and power system. In the traditional calculation method, the research staff can only analyze the abstract calculate result, resulting in poor visual, heavy workload and high error rate of the defects. The annual operating costs of reactive power compensation devices in the optimization calculation will be added to the witnesses function,effectively avoiding to a higher level adjustment to the operation of power grids in order to reduce a little power loss.It has improved the stability of real-time control and reduced equipment damage because of frequent adjustment. From a practical engineering application, the system has easy operation.It achieves reactive power optimal distribution and effectively improves the passing rate of the voltage and reduces the power loss. The designed data interface is compatible with existing application systems in distribution network.It achieves the heterogeneous data integration and sharing safely and reliablely. Its database system is stability and high efficiency implementation, which are fully able to meet the query, add and delete operations in optimization calculation process.
