In metallurgy electricity supply enterprises, a large number of rectifier equipment, such as rolling mill and electric arc furnace, inject much of harmonic current to the public power grid which pollutes the grid environment and effect power quality, so it is necessary to install filters.The current domestic and international status and the development of harmonic filter are firstly reviewed, and the typical harmonic technology management program and its development prospects are introduced; then based on measured harmonic data of bar plant and grid system parameters of Baogang, configuration schemes of passive filter and reactive power compensation are calculated, and the design parameters are optimized according to the principle of cost-effective operation. Finally, by using MATLAB software, the simulation models of passive filter device composed of single-tuned filters and high-pass filter are established. The filtering effect & the performance analysis are carried which testify the project correctness and feasibility.
