A model of the power plant boiler is constructed by use of software Aspen Plus in this paper, on the basis of which, the exergy analysis is conduct to obtain the energy consumption distribution and energy utilization status for each part of the power plant boiler according to different load and different coal conditions. The results indicate that, the total exergy efficiency of the boiler decreases with the load reduction, whereas, the exergy loss increases with the load reduction. For different coals, there is no direction relation between the exergy efficiency and the heat productivity. However, the variation of the heat productivity has a good correlation with that of the exergy loss. Meanwhile, referring to the theory of high temperature air combustion, the temperature of preheated air is raised, and the existing boiler process is improved by the simulation technique. The result demonstrates that except for the water wall, the exergy efficiency is increased in various degrees for other heating surfaces.
