ObjectiveTo provide decision basis for training plan designing and policy making by investigating all grassroots health staff training needs in a district of Beijing.MethodsData were collected by using questionnaires and analysised by using SPSS13.0statistical software for Windows.Results1. Basic situation660were surveyed,52.16percent from community health centers,26.08percent from community health service stations,21.76percent from village health. Avergerage age of660health personnel was43.18years.66.43percent of rural doctors were60years old or more.3.18%,24.14%,46.67%, and2.88%of all surveyed health personnel have senior titles, intermediate grade junior titles, no titles respectively.2. Previous training situation25.2%of survey respondents had received training needs survey. The average number of training received was15.42and15.76%of survey respondents did not participate in any training in2012. Training mainly focused on first aid skills and general practices skills. Average of training days was1.68.3. Training needs96.67%of respondents need training. The most recognized form of training is classroom training,59.24%. The average suitable term was2months and3months for local and outside of the region training. Average appropriate times for short-term training were3. The average suitable days was3Training needs of rural doctors was higher than community members.4. Training Content SelectionTop three clinical expertise skills needs are common disease clinics, emergency learn knowledge and skills, differential diagnosis of infectious diseases. Top three public health needs are chronic disease clinics and standardized management, health education, skills, community diagnosis of chronic diseases. There were some needs for computer application skill and the investigation report thesis writing skills. Logistic multivariate regression analysis showed that training needs was mainly related to current job categories major, work experience, professional categories and other factors.Conclusions1. This survey includes all jurisdictions engaged in community health service in the post of medical personnel and village health of rural doctors, and health administrative departments and training institutions managers interviewed, can objectively reflect the region’s community health service staff actual demand.2. Training needs are huge. Only3.33%of people think that "do not need" training. And respondents with different academic, professional, professional title, position, working years, etc., have different training needs. Rural doctor low qualifications, low job title, new recruits have more training demands.3. The main contents of the training of junior officers should pay more attention to appropriate technology, skills training, while strengthening the different professional training targeted professional content; actively promote the further study of the form of training, strengthening of health personnel reserve; actively promote the adoption of practices and case analysis of training methods; short-term training to3times better every year, each training time is3days is appropriate.
