Objectives:The study was designed to investigate the efficacy of jianpi-runfu decoction and self-made decoction for oral on patients with atopic dermatitis of spleen deficiency syndrome, by observing systemic symptoms, severe scoring of skin lesions, facial skin physiological indicators and subjective symptoms including itchiness and insomnia. Methods:This randomized, controlled,4-week study assessed the efficacy of jianpi-runfu decoction and self-made decoction for oral on patients with atopic dermatitis of spleen deficiency syndrome. The samples were collected from 58 cases of atopic dermatitis, among which 29 cases were treated with jianpi-runfu decoction as treatment group,29 cases were treated with self-made decoction as control group. Both group apply externally petrolatum or vitamin E cream (Beijing Chinese Medicine hospital preparation). The related indicators of the patients were scored. The side-effects were evaluated both in the treatment group and control group. Results:After 4 weeks’treatment, the score of systemic symptoms, severe scoring of skin lesions and subjective symptoms of treatment group reduced obviously, so did severe scoring of skin lesions and itching of control group. The facial skin physiological indicators of patients with atopic dermatitis within both of the two group were not improved. The reducing rate of systemic symptoms of treatment group was 38.46%, higher than the reducing rate of control group (18.33%). The reducing rate of severe scoring of skin lesions of treatment group was 47.92%, higher than the other (33.77%). The reducing rate of itchiness of treatment group was 50.00%, higher than the other (15.59%). The reducing rate of insomnia of treatment group was 66.67%, higher than the other (20.95%). The total efficiency of systemic symptoms of treatment group was 40.74%, higher than the other (33.33%). The total efficiency of severe scoring of skin lesions of treatment group was 88.89%, higher than the other (55.56%), besides the difference between the two groups was statistically significant. During the treatment, the liver function index of one patient in the treatment group was abnormal slightly, whose conclusion of abdominal ultrasonic inspection was fatty liver disease, as the remaining patients did not appear any side effect. The treatment group had 2 cases off, as the control group had 8 cases off and 3 cases excluded. Conclusion:The study showed that efficacy of jianpi-runfu decoction for oral was better than self-made decoction for oral in improving skin lesions of atopic dermatitis of spleen deficiency syndrome. Jianpi-runfu decoction also had curative effect in improving systemic symptoms and insomnia. Both of the 2 groups did not exhibit significant changes in terms of physiological indicators of facial skin. In summary, jianpi-runfu decoction had curative effect on atopic dermatitis of spleen deficiency syndrome, but further study was needed.
