Clinical Observation On Peripheral Neurotoxicity Caused By Oxaliplatin By Traditional Chinese Medicine Fumigation

According to the understanding of the Bi Syndrome from the teaditional Chinese medicine which emphasizes dialectical therapy, This article firstly confirms the positive effectiveness of the Wenjing Huoxue decoction therapy in arthromyodynia caused by Oxaliplatin, then the mechanism of this therapy is discussed. So, this research can be a theoretical basis for the further application.Objective:To prove the positive effectiveness of the Wenjing Huoxue decoction treatment in arthromyodynia caused by Oxaliplatin.Methods:The patients with colorectal cancer or gastric cancer who all met the pathological criteria were randomly divided into two simple groups according to the dosage of Oxaliplatin:treatment group treated with chemotherapy and Wenjing Huoxue decoction, then treated with Wenjing Huoxue decoction3weeks after the whole treatmeat and control group only treated with chemotherapy.The diseased regions (5cm above the limbs) of patients from treatment group who are using Oxaliplatin immersed in Wenjing Tongluo decoction with42℃, we define this treatment which lasts5days a week and once a day with40minutes as a cycle. The evaluation about the clinical effect will be made after continuous6cycles. The observation and comparison at the end of the2nd,4th and6th cycle mainly focus on the incidence rate of neurotoxicity, the degree of the symptom and the improvement for the symptom caused by neurotoxicity.Result:1.the incidence rate of neurotoxicity of the treatment group less than the control group after2cycles. But there is no significant difference when P>0.05. The neurotoxicity increase gradually with the increasing dosage of the Oxaliplatin. This phenomenon emerge obviously in treatment group, while control group is almost unchanged. Four cycles of treatment group, oxaliplatin neurotoxicity caused by the overall incidence of26.47%in the control group the overall incidence of51.52%,p<0.05. Six cycles of treatment group, oxaliplatin neurotoxicity caused by the overall incidence of26.47%in the control group the overall incidence of63.64%p<0.05.The incidence rate of neurotoxicity of the treatment group compare with control group P<0.05after4cycles, and it’s also happen after6cycles. 2. When acculated dose of oxaliplatin≥900mg/m2, oxaliplatin neurotoxicity caused by the overall incidence of29.41%in the control group the overall incidence of51.52%, p<0.05.3.The total effective rate of the treatment group is79.41%and it’s54.55%of the control group after the whole treatmeat, p<0.05.Conclusion:Wenjing Huoxue decoction can effectively reduce incidence and severity of peripheral neurotoxicity caused by Oxaliplatin and improve symptom without significant side effects.
