Purpose:Comparing the skin temperatures of BL13and LU1between PTB groupand healthy volunteer group, the aim of this study is to discuss whether changesof the skin temperatures of BL13and LU1are related to pulmonary tuberculosis(PTB), and to verify whether the Shu-Mu Acupoints of lung have the function ofreflecting PTB.Material and method:The main equipment of this study is ATIR-M301Medicalinfrared thermal imager yielded from Weilian technology co., LTD in Chongqing. In this study, a total of47PTB patients (24males,23females, age45.51±17.19years, weight60.71±8.32kg, and height171.61±11.32cm) were recruited intoPTB group from Benxi City Hospital for Infectious Diseases in Benxi, China. Thesubjects of healthy volunteer group in this study consisted of32healthyvolunteers (16males,16females, age40.19±11.72years, weight63.53±10.16kg, and height173.38±12.31cm) who were from Liaoning University of TraditionalChinese Medicine in Shenyang, China. We detected the infrared temperatures ofBL12, BL13, BL14, LU1, LU2and axilla of all subjects and calculated the relativetemperature(divide the infrared temperature of acupoint by the infraredtemperature of the ipsilateral axilla). Within group, compared infraredtemperature of BL13and LU1with the same side of the same parts of the samemeridians other acupoints separately, and compared infrared temperature andrelative temperature of acupoints on both sides with the same side comparativeanalysis; between groups, compared ipsilateral acupoint with the same side ofinfrared temperature and relative temperature comparative analysis. Statisticalanalysis was employed by using statistical software of SPSS17.0. The data wereanalyzed statistically by using independent-sample T-test for comparison ofintra-class and paired-sample T-test for comparison of interblock. Values are expressed as mean±SD. Statistical results has significant differences(p<0.01).Results:1. In the PTB group, the infrared temperatures of BL13and LU1showed nodifference between both sides, but the infrared temperature of right axilla wassignificantly higher than the other side (P<0.01),2. Comparing the relative temperatures between PTB group and healthy volunteergroup, the relative temperatures of BL13and LU1on the right side in PTB groupwere significantly lower than the same side in healthy volunteer group (P<0.01), but the relative temperature of BL12, BL14, BL42and LU2showed nodifference between both groups on the right side.3. Comparing the relative temperatures between PTB group and healthy volunteergroup, The infrared temperatures and the relative temperatures of BL13and LU1on the left side in PTB group were significantly lower than the same side inhealthy volunteer group (P<0.01), but the relative temperature of BL12, BL14,BL42and LU2showed no difference between both groups on the left side.4. Comparing the infrared temperatures of the acupoints on the same part of thesame side in PTB group, the infrared temperatures of bilateral BL13weresignificantly higher then BL12, BL14, BL42on the same side(p<0.01);theinfrared temperatures of bilateral LU1were significantly higher then LU2onthe same side(p<0.01).Conclusion:1. BL13and LU1as the Shu-Mu acupoints of lung that the infrared temperaturesin the condition of pulmonary tuberculosis (disease) were lower than normal, and that could reflect the disease.2. The infrared temperatures of BL13and LU1were higher than the other acupointson the same part of the same side in PTB group, it means that the infraredtemperatures of BL13and LU1were significantly different then normal acupointsin the condition of pathological state, it indicated that BL13and LU1had the specificity of specific acupoints of reflecting PTB.3. The changes of infrared temperatures of BL13and LU1could be the referencebasis of external treatment of TCM syndrome differentiation.
