[Objective] To evaluate the efficacy and safty of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in treating gastroesophageal reflux cough.[Methods] We searched Pubmed, VIP,WanFang,CNKI,CBM by computer, and search related magazines, conference articals by manual to select RCTs about TCM treat GERC.Inclusion and exclusion criteria, quality of the included trails, valid data were conducted.RevMan5.1.7software was used to conduct the statistical analysis.[Results]:Part1:A total of29RCTs published in Chinese were identified. The general codition, research methods, statistical methods and safety evaluation were carried to evaluate the metho logical quality of the inclusion articals. In an overall observision, the metho logical quality of the RCTs in treat GERC were genaraly poor.None of the articals used evaluation of the number of the patients.6trials,about20.1%reported there diagnostic criteria in TCM and westen medicine.16trials,about55.2%reported there standard of western medicine.19trials,about65.5%,reported there perfect criteria for clinical evaluation.25trials,cbout86.2%reported the baseline conditions, comparion of proportionality.7trials,about24.1%used the method of randomized digital table.3triais used the method ofregistrationorder, others only metioned "random" without exactly method. All included trails were unclear in reporting blind method and allocation concealment.5trials,about17.2%reported the number and reason of withdraw.13trials,about44.8%had excellent standardization in treatment. All the included trails reported the statistical method.3trials,about10.3%reported the accurence of adverse effect.Part2:A total of23RCTs published in Chinese were identified.(1)For integrated tradtional and western medicine versus western medicine alone:1Effective rate:a total of7RCTs were included, Symptom integral:only1trials were included, Recurrence rate:a total of4RCTs were included, the result showed differences with statistically significance,to treat GERC, integrated traditional and western medicine are more effective. Gastroscopy:only2trials were included, there was not statistically significant, both treatment method have the same function in pathological changes of esophageal mucosa.(2)For TCM alone versus western medicine alone:Effective rate: a total of16RCTs were included, Symptom integral:4trials were included, Recurrence rate:a total of3RCTs were included, Quality of life:only1trials were included, the result showed differences with statistically significance, treat GERC, i TCM alone are more effective. differences with statistically significance, TCM alone are more effective in changing the symptom integral.Part3:A total of2trials had safety evaluation. there was not differences with statistically significance.[Conclusion] TCM have advantages in clinical cure, increase effective rate, decrease recurrence rate, improve the quality of life, but without safty evaluation on treating GERC.As the poor quality of all the included trails,we should improve the quality of RCTs, to provide powerful evidence in treating GERC.At the same time guide clinical practices, promote the development of TCM.
