Clinical Observation On Treatment Of Acute Suppurative Tonsillitis With Longdan Xiegan Decoction And

[Object]:To observe the clinical effect on treating the acute tonsillitis by the way of a treatment program "Longdan Xiegan Decoction and pus scattered".[Methods]:Cases of tonsillar abscess ranging from December2013to April2014, collected from Chengdu TCM University subsidiary hospital and Xin Du TCM Hospital emergency clinic departments and their in-patient departments,1:1proportionally divided into two groups(according to patients’visiting sequence). The reference group treated with conventional Western medicine, while the experimental group treated with reference group medicine and "Longdan Xiegan Decoction and pus scattered" added. By observing the abatement time of fever, the pus disappearing time and its related symptom, integral indicator of the severity of the clinical symptoms and signs of change, evaluate the1day,2days, or3days efficacy. Used SPSS19.0software package to process and analyze data.[Result]:1. The total efficiency difference between the two groups has no statistical significance and somehow equal.2. Single symptom or sign:a:tonsil size:the difference between the groups before&after the treatment has no statistical significance;b:tonsil congestion:the difference between the groups before and2&3days after the treatment has statistical significance;c:tonsil secretions::the difference between the groups before and1&2&3days after the treatment has statistical significance;d:body temperature:the difference between the groups before and2&3days after the treatment has statistical significance;e:throat pain::the difference between the groups before&after the treatment has no statistical significance; f:thirsty::the difference between the groups before&after the treatment has no statistical significance; food intake:the difference between the groups before and3days after the treatment has statistical significance.3. The experimental group in improving the tonsil congestion, secretions around the tonsil, fever and food intake is superior to the reference group, the difference was statistically significant. The difference shows no statistically meaning in changing tonsil size and reliving thirst, throat pain symptom.4. Patients’ body signs and symptoms improvement of the experimental group is superior to the reference group, the effecting time of curing/improving tonsil congestion, secretion, fever and food intake is shortened obviously.[Conclusion]:The overall efficiency of both treatment groups is similar. But the patient’s tonsils congestion, secretions around the tonsils, throat pain, fever, and food-intake of the experimental group are significantly better than those of the reference group. This proves the treatment of acute tonsillitis by adding "Longdan Xiegan Decoction and pus scattered" to the traditional Western Medicine can improve patients’symptom and enhance pain relief.
