This dissertation consist of six chapters. Reported in chapter one were the extraction process for ccarnosic acid from Rosmarinus officinalis Linn.. In second chapter, we study the enrichment process of carnosic acid. The third chapter we described the synthesis of carnosic acid derivative. The fourth chapter described the protective effect on neurons damaged by H2O2 and stability of carnosic acid and acetylated carnosic acid. The fifth chapter described the effect of vasodilation of carnosic acid and rosmarinic acid.The last chapter summarized the development of nattual phenolic diterpene.In chapter one, we do it with the extraction rate of carnosic acid as quantitative index, the best extraction solvent and extraction method were identified by single factor experiments. And then, the effects of extraction time, solid-liquid ratio and extraction times on extraction rate of carnosic acid were investigated by orthogonal tests. The optimal extraction technology was as follows:ethyl acetate extracting with material and solvent ratio of 1:14, ultrasonic extraction for 4 times. Under these conditions, the average extraction rate of carnosic acid was up to 2.48%. It shows taht the optimal extraction process for carnosic acid from Rosmarinus officinalis L. was reproducible and stable.In chapter two, we introduced the enrichment process of carnosic acid. With the yield of canosic acid as quantitative index, we investigated the extraction protocols, separation method and purification method of carnosic acid. We found that refluxed with petroleum ether, treated with acid and base, recrystallized rapidly with petroleum ether and ethyl acetate are the best way to make carnosic acid pure. Then, with the yield of 1.45%,we obtained a high-purity carnosic acid with the mentioned enrichment process.Chapter three focused on the synthesis of carnosic acid derivative. In this thesis, 6 compounds of 2 acylate,2 amidated compounds and 1 compound with cyanogroup were synthesized from carnosic acid.Chapter four studied the protective effect on neurons damaged by H2O2 and stability of carnosic acid and acetylated carnosic acid. The result showed that both carnosic acid and acetylated carnosic acid can protect H2O2 induced neuronal injury. Carnosic acid is poor stability while acetylated carnosic acid is good stability.Chapter five described the vasodilation of carnosic acid and rosmarinic acid. It’s not obvious for the two ompounds on the effect of vasodilation.We summarized the development of natrual phenolic diterpene in the last chapter.
