Background Primary cancer of the liver is one of the malignant tumors that can occur in the digestive system; about 500,000 patients die on a global scale because of this disease.Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) is the most common primary cancer of the liver. In our country, liver cirrhosis or viral infection that always occurs secondarily to HCC. However, with the development of economy, people’s life and drinking habits be changed. The number of liver disease due to alcohol abuse and liver cancer patients is increased and attracted the attention of medical workers.R0 resection is acknowledged as an effective method in the treatment of HCC, but there is a high recurrence rate. Therefore clinically find alcohol background overall survival and disease-free survival of patients with HCC risk factor is extremely important. Objective To explore the influence of alcoholism history on the prognosis of primary hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) patients who had undergone R0 resection. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data and follow-up results of 507 primary HCC patients with hepatitis B virus(HBV) who had undergone liver resection at the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University between January 1st 2002 and December 31 st 2012. The differences in clinical and pathological factors in the contrast group were evaluated using the Chi-square test with Yates correction or the Fisher exact test.Using the Kaplan–Meier method, the survival rates of patients after tumor resection were calculated and the COX regression method was used to analyze prognostic-related factors. A P value <0.05 was considered as being statistically significant. Results Univariate analysis shows the genders, with portal hypertension, AFP and GGT are important factors influencing alcohol-free survival rate, two drinks beer and liquor type’s influence on postoperative recurrence in HCC patients there was no significant difference, a history of alcoholism and HBV is a synergistic, accompanied by their recurrence rates are higher than in patients with HCC in HCC patients with HBV background. Conclusion History of alcoholism before operation is an important factor affecting the prognosis of patients with HCC, drinking groups of patients with a poor prognosis, the recurrence rate is significantly higher than that of the patients without a history ofalcoholism, and HBV of synergy, with a history of alcoholism in patients with HBV infection have a much higher rate of relapse risk.
