The New Cultivar Breeding Of Prunus Mume For Both Ornamental Value And Fruit Production

On the base of the summary of Prunus mume germplasm resources and breeding research, an investigation list about Prunus mume cultivar resources was conducted through the mume cultivar records as the research object. Based on the investigation of Prunus mume cultivar of the lagre mume resource nursery and fruit mume planting base in Yunnan, Hubei, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Shandong Province, Beijing, etc. The investigation list of Prunus mume cultivar resources successfully completed and detailed characteristics of 270 cultivars were got.Through the investigation of mume cultivar resources in China and the research of characteristics grade about Prunus mume,7 characteristics (Flower Color, Flower Diameter, Petal Number, Average Weight, Soluble Solids Contents, Average Total Acid, Catable Rate) were identified and must dected in new cultivar seletion which will be used as seletion criteria for new cultivar. some characteristics were seleted and graded by breeding purpose and difference elaborated products.The breeding research including seedlings seleted and Hybridization breeding were promoted in Qingdao of Shandong Province and Lijiang of Yunnan Province on the base of the selection criteria for Prunus mume for both flower and fruit.5 new Prunus mume for both flower and fruit (Primus mume 'Qihe 4hao',Prunus mume 'Qihe 14hao', Prunus mume 'Qihe 21hao, Prunus mume 'Lashi You4', Prunus mume 'Jiangbian 7hao') were seleted though seedlings breeding in the excellent mume plant in Lijiang city, Yunnan province. At the same time, the new cultivar research were conducted by means of hybrid breeding.4 new cold-resistant Prunus mume cultivars(Prunus mume 'Huang Lve', Prunus mume 'Yanwen Fenghou', Prunus mume 'Wu Fenghou', Prunus mume 'Mingxiao Fenghou') were selected through buds variable seletion in the mume nursery of Qingdao city Shandong province.
