The tested materials were provided by Geneties and breeding group of cotton in Hunan agricultural university. They were from the stonerille cotton and deltapine cotton, a total of 27 materials, including 22 domestic cotton cultivars (2 were bred by Hunan agricultural university), 5 foreign cotton. These materials were numbered from 6-1 to 6-27.Their growth periods, agronomic character, boll retention, "Before Hot Days, Hot Days and Autumn" of Cotton, yield and fiber quality of 27 cultivars were studied and comprehensive evaluation of 27 cultivars were offered in this paper. The results are as follows:(1) The results showed that the growth period can be divided into three kinds of types. The first one, medium maturation cotton, tending earlier maturation cotton, its growth period is less than or equal to 124 days, a total of 10 materials; Medium maturation cotton, its growth period is 125 days to 129 days, a total of 13 materials; late maturation cotton, its growth period is longer than 130 days, including 4 materials. The shortest growth period is 6-1, only 122 days. The longest is 6-14, has 134 days.(2) Different materials have different height, the highest one is material 6-24, its height was 125.2cm. Material 6-25 sheded 36.5 bolls, was the most one. Material 6-12 and 6-22 only sheded 16.5 bolls, the least. The most shedding was NO.6-25, is 62.5%, The least one, 6-12, only 29.3%. 6-3 has the largest total number of fruiting node, 73.4.(3) "Before Hot Days, Hot Days and Autumn" of Cotton of 27 materials have several difference, the degrees in vary. "Before Hot Days" of cotton has no significant difference, "Hot Days and Autumn" of Cotton has very obvious significance.(4) Different materials have a different yield. The results showed that the maximum seed refer yield and the maximum lint yield were No.6-20 material. All the materials have a higher lint percentage. 18 of the 27 materials higher than 40%, and NO.6-21 comes to 44.1%; single bill weight generally lighter, only material 6-23 reaches 5.59 gram, the perboll retention of NO.6-18 was the most one, has 47.9.(5) In all the materials, NO.6-21 and 6-22 is the short fiber cotton, other materials are staple cotton or long-staple; in views of comprehensive evaluation, NO.6-20 got the best evaluation and the worst one was NO.6-22.
